Economics and Economic History
  1. In the first year (Part I) eight subjects will be studied and examined as follows:
    Semester one:
    HI119, an approved Economics unit, an approved Quantitative Methods unit, plus one option from an approved Social Sciences list.
    Semester two:
    HI120, an approved Economics unit, an approved Quantitative Methods unit, plus one option from an approved Social Sciences list.

    Students may take HI138 as an option.

  2. Year 2
    EC221, EC222 two history units (each double unit)
    Plus:
    Two units either from EC units numbered EC223 to EC259 or from the approved list of units other than EC units, subject to not more than 2 units from this list being taken in the second and third years together.

  3. Year 3
    EC363 History special subject from the relevant list in the regulations of the Faculty of Arts (2 units)
    Either
    Dissertation in an approved topic in Economics (2 units)
    or
    Dissertation in an approved topic in Economic History (2 units)
    or
    Contemporary Problems paper (EC390) (1 unit)
    Plus:
    Two or three units either from EC units numbered EC340 to EC378 or from the approved list of units other than EC units, subject to not more than 2 units from this list being taken in the second and third years together.

    Both Semesters: One and only one of EC362, EC367, EC368 must be taken.
