Regulations for the Schools of the Faculty:
Sociology & Social Policy
  1. In the first year (Part I) eight subjects will be studied and examined as follows:
    Semester one:
    SS101, SS103, ST107 plus one option selected from the Social Sciences list.
    Semester two:
    SS102, SS104 plus one option (subject to pre-requisites) selected from the Social Sciences list. Modern Language (if double unit option taken)
    Both Semesters: SS106

  2. Year 2 (revised regulations will apply from 2002/3)
    Semester one:
    SS201, SS221 plus two units from SS203, SS207, SS209, SS217, SS227, or other approved Social Sciences unit.
    Semester two:
    SS218, SS220, ST222 plus one unit from SS202, SS204, SS214, SS222 or other approved Social Sciences unit. In Year 2 students must take at least one unit from SS202-SS214 and at least one unit from SS224-SS227.
    Both semesters:
    Students may take a single unit language option in semester 1 or a double unit language option over semesters 1 and 2 in place of stated options.

  3. Year 3 (revised regulations will apply from 2003/4)
    Semester one:
    SS301, SS303 and one further approved unit from the list of third year Sociology and Social Policy units offered in Semester one or other approved Social Sciences unit.
    Semester two:
    Three approved units from the list of third year Sociology and Social Policy units offered in Semester two or other approved Social Sciences unit.
    Both semesters:
    SS398/399 (two units). Students must select at least one unit from: SS317, SS342, SS352. Subject to provisions in the general regulations students may take a single unit language option in semester 1 or a double language unit option over semesters 1 and 2 in place of stated options.

    Note: With the exception of students choosing to study a double language unit each year students may take a maximum of two units from the general list of social science units in years 2 and 3 overall.
