Regulations for the Shortened Pre-Registration Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Nursing Leading to Part 15 (Child)

1. The pre-registration course leading to the Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Nursing - Leading to Part 15 (Child) shall be of one calendar year's duration.

2. Candidates for admission to the course must be registered on Parts 1, 12, 13 or 14 of the UKCC Single Professional Register, and, in the case of the Advanced Diploma, hold a minimum of 60 Level 2 credits. Admission to and continuation on the course is subject to specific status and health requirements. Students are required to inform the Head of School of health and other problems relevant to their education and training or employment as a health professional.

3. In order to qualify for the Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Nursing candidates must have satisfied the entry requirements, have followed the one year nursing curriculum and passed all the required assessments and examinations, have completed satisfactorily all practical work, clinical work and other course work as required and have fulfilled all English National Board requirements.

4. Candidates are permitted two attempts at each examination; further attempts are not normally permitted.

5. The programme shall comprise a total of eleven units, 50% being practice and 50% theory. Each programme will extend over the summer period and include 7 weeks vacation.

6. In each year students shall be examined by means of in-course assessments, clinical assessments and formal examinations.

7. A candidate who fails to satisfy the Examiners at the end of the Assessment Part will normally be re-examined within three months.
