Regulations for the Degree of Bachelor of Specialist Nursing Practice (Honours) (October 1998 entry onwards)
  1. The post-registration course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Specialist Nursing Practice (Honours), shall normally be of a minimum of one academic year full-time and a maximum of 2 years, or a part-time equivalent.

  2. Candidates for admission to the course must satisfy the Regulations for Admission to Degree Courses as specified in Section IV of the General Regulations, and
    1. effective registration with the UKCC as a nurse, midwife or health visitor
    2. appropriate professional/vocational and academic study equivalent to 120 CAT credits at Level 1 and 120 CAT credits at Level 2*
    3. demonstration of achievement of relevant clinical skills (e.g. the Common Module Level 2 of the relevant ENB Clinical Skills Award)
    4. demonstration of manager's support to provide relevant practice experience and the related assessment
    5. identification of a suitably qualified assessor in the relevant practice area;
    6. have satisfied the appropriate status and health requirements.

  3. In order to qualify for the Degree of Bachelor of Specialist Nursing Practice (Honours), candidates must:
    1. have satisfied the entry requirements;
    2. have successfully completed an approved programme of study and passed all the required assessments and course work;
    3. and have fulfilled all English National Board requirements.

  4. Progress from one part of the course to the next will depend upon the successful completion of the appropriate assessment and course work requirements. Candidates are permitted two attempts at each assessment. Further attempts are not normally permitted.

  5. The programme shall consist of core and optional modules. Each module has a specified CAT rating and level*.

  6. Candidates shall be examined by a variety of assessment methods. All assessments shall contribute to the final examination result.

  7. A candidate who fails to satisfy the examiners will normally be re-examined within the following three months. Failure at re-examination will normally result in a recommendation for termination of course. The Degree of Bachelor with Specialist Practitioner, will be awarded to successful candidates as follows: First Class, Second Class (Upper Division), Second Class (Lower Division), and Third Class.
