Regulations for Certificate in Postgraduate Study

Certificate

  1. A Certificate in Postgraduate Study is awarded by the Senate on the recommendation of the Board of the Faculty of Science to full-time postgraduate candidates who have satisfactorily completed a scheme of study as outlined below and passed the required examinations.

Admission

  1. Candidates must normally be graduates of an approved university. Candidates who are not graduates of an approved university may, with the approval of the Faculty Board, be admitted to the course.

Scheme of Study

  1. The scheme of study will comprise lectures and other course work. Provision may be made for specialised study within the course.

  2. Candidates are required to undertake the scheme of study over a period of not less than two terms.

Examinations

  1. All courses followed in the scheme of study will be examinable during/or at the end of the period of study as specified by the Head/Chairman of the Department or School concerned.

  2. With the permission of the Faculty Board a candidate failing to satisfy the examiners may be permitted to sit a supplementary examination at a date to be specified by the Faculty Board.
