Regulations for the Schools of the Faculty:
Economics and Politics
  1. In the first year (Part I) eight subjects will be studied and examined as follows:

    Semester one:
    PO101, an approved Economics unit, an approved Quantitative Methods unit plus an optional subject chosen from an approved Social Sciences list.
    Semester two:
    PO102, an approved Economics unit, an approved Quantitative Methods unit plus an optional subject chosen from an approved Social Sciences list.

  2. Year 2

    Semester one:
    EC221, PO251, and either PO207 or PO203. One further unit shall be selected from the list of second year EC units.
    Semester two:
    EC222 and PO252. One further unit shall be selected from the list of second year EC units and one from the list of second year Politics units.

  3. Year 3

    Eight units shall be studied and examined as follows:

    EC363, 3 Politics units, 1 Economics unit, one and only one of EC362, EC367, EC368 either Dissertation/Project (2 units) in Economics (EC398/399) or Politics (PO398/399) or Contemporary Problems in Economics (EC390) (1 unit) plus one Economics or Politics unit.

    Students may take units from Social Sciences list in lieu of optional units provided only two such units are taken in Years 2 and 3 overall.

  4. Each unit, with the exception of certain Politics second year units, shall normally be examined in the semester in which it is taken. Second and third year units shall count towards the final examination.
