Regulations for the Schools of the Faculty:
Politics and Sociology
  1. In the first year (Part I) eight subjects will be studied and examined as follows:

    Semester one:
    PO101, SS101, ST107, plus one other subject selected from the Social Sciences list:
    Semester two:
    SS102, PO102, PO106
    Both Semesters:
    SS106 (single unit taught across two semesters)

  2. Year 2

    Semester one:
    SS201, PO263 one unit from PO203, PO205, PO251, one unit from SS203, SS205, SS207, SS209, SS227.
    Semester two:
    ST222, either PO264 or SS218, one unit from SS202, SS204, SS208, SS225, one unit from PO Year 2 units.

    Note: In either semester candidates may select in lieu of an optional subject a unit from any other Social Sciences list (subject to prerequisites), provided that only two such units may be taken in years 2 and 3 overall.

  3. Year 3 (2002/3 only)

    Eight units shall be studied and examined as follows: SS301

    Two units from SS303-352 and the other three from the list of level 3 units in Politics. Dissertation on an approved topic in either Politics or Sociology (PO/SS398/399 - 2 units).

    Note: In either semester candidates may select in lieu of an optional subject a unit from any other Social Sciences list (subject to prerequisites), provided that no more than two such units are taken in Years 2 and 3 overall. Where two such units are selected in Year 2 candidates must take a minimum of two PO and two SS units during the third year.
