Regulations for the School of Social Sciences:
Economics and Finance

1. In the first year (Part I) eight subjects will be studied and examined as follows:

Semester one:
An approved Economics unit (ECON1001 (without A Level) or ECON1003 (with A Level). An approved Quantitative Methods unit (ECON1005 or ECON1007)

Semester two:
MANG1004, ECON1002. An approved Quantitative Methods unit (ECON1008 or ECON1006 and ECON1008)

Both semesters:
2/3 units from the Social Sciences list (excluding MANG1007, ECON1012, ECON1009, STAT1003). Students may replace ECON1007 and ECON1008 with STAT1007, MATH1018, STAT1005. MANG1004 with MANG1001 and MANG1002

2. Year 2

Semester one: ECON2001

Semester two: ECON2002, MANG2004

Both Semesters: 1 of ECON2003 or STAT2010
+ either ECON2026 or ECON2006 and ECON2007
+ 2/3 units from ECON2*** or Social Sciences lists (excluding MANG2008)
A maximum of 2 units from the Social Sciences list (excluding ECON units) may be taken in years 2 and 3 combined.

3. Year 3

Semester one: ECON3015, ECON3008

Semester two: ECON3016. either MANG3009 or MANG3020

Both Semesters: either Dissertation/Project (ECON3023) or Contemporary Problems (ECON3021)

The balance of units from MANG3009, MANG3020, ECON3*** (excluding ECON3007) or Social Sciences list. A maximum of 2 units from the Social Sciences list (excluding ECON and specified MANG and STAT units) may be taken in years 2 and 3 combined.
