Regulations for the School of Social Sciences:
Politics and Sociology

1. Eight subjects will be studied and examined as follows:

Semester one:
POLI1001, SOCI1001, STAT1003 + 1 unit from Social Sciences list

Semester two:
POLI1002, INTR1001, SOCI1002

Both Semesters:
SOCI1005

2. Year 2

Semester one:
POLI2006, SOCI2001
1 unit from POLI2005, INTR2001, POLI2002
1 unit from SOCI2003, SOCI2005, SOCI2006, SOCI2008, SOCI2012.

Semester two:
POLI2007, STAT2009
1 unit from Politics unit list
1 unit from Sociology unit list
It is advised that if you are thinking of doing the Sociology Dissertation that you take SOCI2009 as your Sociology option or in lieu of your Politics option. Please consult your tutor if you have any queries.

3. Year 3

Semester one:
SOCI3001

Semester 2:

Both semesters:
+ 2 units from SOCI3002 – 3018

Note: units may be chosen from the Social Sciences list in lieu of any of the optional subjects, provided only 2 Social Sciences units are taken in years 2 and 3 overall. If 2 Social Sciences units are chosen in the second year, students MUST take a minimum of 2 POLI/INTR and 2 SOCI units in the third year.

+ 3 units from POLI/INTR list, unit cannot be chosen if the corresponding unit was taken in year 2

+ Dissertation POLI3016 (double unit) or SOCI3019 (double unit)

NOTE: 1 unit may be chosen from Social Sciences list in lieu of any of the optional subjects.
