Regulations for the School of Social Sciences:
Accounting and Economics

1. In the first year (Part I) eight subjects will be studied and examined as follows:

Semester one:
MANG1001, MANG1003, an approved Economics unit (ECON1001 (without A Level) and ECON1003 (with A Level) and an approved Quantitative Methods unit (ECON1005 or ECON1007).

Semester two:
MANG1002, ECON1002,
an approved Quantitative Methods unit (ECON1006 or ECON1008)
1 unit from Social Sciences list or a Modern Language (excluding ECON1012, ECON1009)

2. Year 2

Semester one:
MANG2003, ECON2001

2 units from MANG2016, MANG2015, MANG2006, MANG2013, or ECON2*** list

Semester two:
MANG2004, MANG2005, ECON2002
1 unit from MANG2017, MANG2002, MANG2007, or ECON2*** list
Either semester instead of listed option: One unit from any other permitted Social Sciences list (excluding MANG2008).

3. Year 3

Semester one:
MANG3003, ECON3008

Both semesters:
Dissertation/Project (two units) (MANG3025/ECON3023) or Contemporary Problems (ECON3021 one unit)
one (and only one) unit from ECON3007, ECON3012, ECON3013 must be taken.
One unit from Social Sciences lists (including ECON or MANG units)
2 units from MANG or ECON list (if Dissertation/Project chosen)
3 units from MANG or ECON list (if Contemporary Problems is chosen)

A minimum of 6 ECON units and 6 MANG units (excluding MANG3025/ECON3023 and ECON3021) to be taken over years 2 and 3.
