MSc Continuing Education in Electronics Systems Integration (CEESI)

Programme Structure

The units can be studied independently as part of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Having studied a number of units as part of CPD, you may retrospectively register for the MSc programme, subject to the normal progression rules applicable in the Faculty of Engineering, Science and Mathematics.

When you register for the MSc, you are expected to have the full support of your employer. You may take up to five years to complete the programme. Because of timetabling constraints, the course content may vary slightly from year to year.

You must choose from the units described in Appendix 1. Credit may be allowed, up to a maximum of 90 credit points, for appropriate modules (other than the dissertation) completed at another member institution of the CEESI consortium, and subject to the quality control procedures defined in the CEESI memorandum of agreement. All modules are at level M (MSc or fourth year MEng).

Following the successful completion of the formal taught part of the programme, you will undertake an individual project lasting the equivalent of about 3 months full-time work which is assessed by a dissertation.

To be awarded a University of Southampton MSc, you must be registered at the University of Southampton before commencing work on the project and dissertation. Students may only register for the MSc. A student may choose to exit with a Diploma or Certificate which will be awarded by Bolton Institute of Higher Education (the CEESI co-ordinating institution).

The table below shows the overall structure and exit points. Each successfully completed unit is worth between 6 and 15 credit points (CP). The dissertation is equivalent to 60 credit points.
