| Entry Requirements |

Candidates must satisfy the general entrance requirements specified in the University's Regulations for Admission to Degree Courses. Normal entry requirement to the BSc in Psychology is based on 21 units (eg: ABBC) or 18 units (eg: ABB). The School of Psychology does not accept General Studies A-level as contributing towards 18 units. However, any additional A-level qualifications, including General Studies, will be taken into account during the decision process. Alternative qualifications, and those from other countries, are considered on their equivalence and merit. |

This programme is governed by the University's General Regulations. |
| 3. |
This programme of study may include lectures, seminars, tutorials, report writing and practical work, At each stage in the programme, students must pass all core units. |

Year 1 |
Candidates in the first year take 6 compulsory Psychology units and 2 non-Psychology options. In order to progress to the second year, candidates must pass 6 out of the 8 units they take in the first year including all core units. |

Year 2 |
Candidates in the second year take 8 Psychology units. |
| 4. |
In order to progress to the third year, we require candidates to pass 6 out of 8 units they take in the second year including all core units. |

Year 3 |
Candidates in the third year take 8 Psychology units, 4 compulsory units and 4 optional units. For the 4 optional units, students can choose from a list of seminar units available in any year. |
| 5. |
Candidates may apply to suspend from the programme temporarily for a specified period. |

| Assessment, Classification and Award |

For the purpose of these regulations, examination shall include all methods of assessment. There are a variety of assessment methods in the School including essays, multiple choice questions, practical reports, statistical assignment, weekly diaries and examinations. Assignments for all units within the School are graded using a categorical marking scheme. |

In order to graduate with an Honours-level degree, candidates must pass the dissertation and research project (two units). In the event of failing one or both of these units, the candidate would not be eligible for Graduate Basis of Registration with the British Psychological Society (BPS). In this case, the route for entry to the BPS would entail completion of a qualifying examination. |
| 8. |
In order to be eligible for the British Psychological Society's Graduate Basis for registration, students must gain at least a Lower Second Class Honours degree. |
