Except where an opt-out has been granted by the University (see below) the following academic regulations apply in addition to the General Regulations.

1. Admissions

The programme follows the University regulations specified in the University Calendar Section IV for the requirements for admissions. Details of the academic requirements are available in the University’s Prospectus.

In addition to the University’s regulations for competence in the English language specified in the University Calendar the programme requires applicants to achieve at least 6.0 in each section of IELTS (or the equivalent TOEFL section scores)

Mature students [over 21 years old] without any of the above qualifications are encouraged to apply if recent successful study has been undertaken at an appropriate level.

All individuals are selected and treated on their relative merits and abilities in line with the University’s Equal Opportunities Policy. Disabled applicants will be treated according to the same procedure as any other applicant with the added involvement of the Disability Office to assess their needs.

2. Structure of Programme(s)

The degree is taken on a full time basis over a three year period.

The degree consists of three levels of study with a mixture of core, compulsory and optional modules at all levels. Optional modules must be chosen in consultation with the personal tutor and are subject to availability. Students must select their options for each semester of study before the options deadline.

Refer to the Programme Specifications and the Management website for further details such as modules, core modules, credit and content. The programme structure and examples of optional modules are detailed in the programme specification and at http://www.management.soton.ac.uk/StudyOpportunities/ug/.

3. Progression

The rules governing progression are as indicated in the University Calendar Section IV.

Students wishing to transfer to a degree in Management must fulfil the progression requirements for the proposed programme.

4. Assessment

The performance of candidates shall be assessed by the Board of Examiners in accordance with the University’s regulations governing examinations. All examinations will be held during the standard University examination periods.

5. Award of Qualification(s)

The class of honours awarded is determined by the weighted final average mark in accordance with University regulations as detailed in Section IV.

The final award is awarded by Senate on the recommendation of the School to candidates who have satisfactorily completed an approved programme of study and have satisfied the assessment requirements.

The Certificate of Higher Education and the Diploma of Higher Education are awarded in accordance with University Regulations as detailed in Section IV.

The full regulations, including those relating to complaints and appeals can be found in Section IV of the University Calendar.
