Reference should be made to the University's General Regulations found in Section IV and Section V (Higher Degree Regulations) of the University Calendar.

Except where an opt-out has been granted by the University (see below) the following academic regulations apply in addition to the General Regulations.


1. Admissions
 
The Programme follows the University Regulations for Admissions to Degree Programmes specified in Section IV of the University Calendar.


2. Structure of Programme(s)
 
The Programme follows the University regulations specified in Section IV of the University Calendar.

The Postgraduate Certificate in ELT (Online) is normally studied over one year part-time but may also be taken on a less intensive basis for a period of two years. The one-year programme has two 16 week semesters running from September to January and February to May.

A candidate is normally required to undertake the scheme of study within the time period specified by their mode of study. A candidate who suspends registration will be required to complete the scheme of study within three years of first registration.


3. Progression
 
The Programme follows the University Regulations for Progression, Determination and Classification of Results specified in Section IV of the University Calendar.


4. Assessment
 
The Programme follows the University Regulations for Progression, Determination and Classification of Results specified in Section IV of the University Calendar.

All components of the scheme of study will be examined during and/or at the end of the period of study as specified by the British Council and/or the University of Southampton, Faculty of Humanities.

A candidate who fails to satisfy the examiners in any module on the first occasion will normally be permitted on one occasion only, either to resubmit the assessment or to take supplementary examiners/assessments at dates specified by the British Council and/or the Faculty of Humanities.


5. Award of Qualification(s)
 
The Programme follows the University Regulations for Progression, Determination and Classification of Results specified in Section IV of the University Calendar.


6. Placements/Study Abroad/Exchange/Fieldwork
 
Not applicable.


7. Other
 
These regulations may be revised during the student's period of registration in accordance with the procedures approved by Senate.

Students’ attendance will be monitored.
