Reference should be made to the University's General Regulations found in Section IV and Section V (Higher Degree Regulations) of the University Calendar.

Except where an opt-out has been granted by the University (see below) the following academic regulations apply in addition to the General Regulations.

Admissions

Specific entry criteria are detailed in the Programme Specification.

Structure of Programme(s)

2.1	All undergraduate programmes are full-time degrees.
2.2	The structure of each programme is as detailed in the relevant Programme Specification.
2.3	Transfer from MEng to the BEng programme is normally permitted up to the last working day in February in Part III. Transfer from MEnvSci to the BSc programme is normally permitted up to the end of Part II to allow registration on the individual project. Students who transfer from an MEng/ MEnvSci programme to a Bachelor programme will not normally be permitted to transfer back to the integrated Masters programme.
2.4	Transfer from BSc to the MEnvSci programme will be carried out at the end of Part I. Transfer is subject to fulfilling the criteria of the MEnvSci programme and an interview with the student’s personal tutor or the Programme Director.
2.5	Transfer from BEng to the MEng programme is normally permitted up to the end of the final term of the third year. Transfer is subject to fulfilling the criteria of the MEng programme and an interview with the student’s personal tutor or the Programme Director.
2.6	Core, compulsory and optional modules for all degree programmes are listed in the Programme Specifications. All pre-requisites and assessments are documented in the module specifications. Specifically, all Part I modules in Civil Engineering and in Civil and Environmental Engineering are core.

Progression

3.1	The Progression Regulations are as given in the University Calendar (Section IV).
3.2	In order to progress to the next Part of the programme, MEng / MEnvSci students who commence their studies with effect from October 2011 are required to obtain an overall aggregate mark of 55% in Part II and 55% in Part III.

Assessment

4.1	Assessment of examinations and coursework is in accordance with University regulations (see University Calendar Section IV).
4.2	When students repeat modules externally, it may be impractical for them to undertake the normal assessment activities, for example assessed laboratory or group work. In such cases they will be provided with an alternative but equivalent form of assessment which will meet the required learning outcomes.

Award of Qualification(s)

The final award is awarded by Senate on the recommendation of the Examination Board to candidates who have satisfactorily completed an approved course of study and have satisfied the assessment requirements.

Placements/Study Abroad/Exchange/Fieldwork

6.1	Students on the MEng programmes are advised to seek an industrial placement at the end of Parts II and III. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain a placement although guidelines and academic advice will be provided.

Other

7.1	These regulations may be revised during the student's period of registration in accordance with the procedures approved by Senate.
7.2	Candidates are required to satisfy the academic and attendance requirements of the programme as laid out in the Programme Specification. Those failing to do so may have their enrolment on a programme terminated.
