Structure of Programme(s) |

The Programmes follow the University
regulations specified in Section IV of the University
Calendar as a two year or 18 month integrated degree leading to the award of a Masters degree.
The programme consists of two parts. Part I is a preparatory programme
for masters level study considered under the undergraduate regulations for Progression,
Determination and Classification of Results and Part II is considered under the regulations for standalone Masters Progression, Determination and Classification of Results: Standalone Masters Programmes. The programme structure for Part I is described in the programme specification. Part II is a Master's programme from an approved list of destination programmes at the University of Southampton.
The Faculty may specify for each programme core modules which candidates for that programme are required to take or complete successfully. Apart from the core modules (if any) the choice of optional modules shall be subject in all cases to programme leader approval. |

Progression |

The Programmes follow the University Regulations
for Progression, Determination and Classification of Results specified in Section IV of the University Calendar.
Progression from the pre-Masters course (Part I) to the masters programme (Part II) requires the achievement of a qualifying mark distinct to the pass mark overall and with achieved marks in stipulated modules. These requirements are detailed in the programme specification.
Candidates who do not achieve the qualifying mark in Part I to progress to their Part II of the programme may refer in the English for Masters and a maximum of two subject specific modules. The marks achieved at referral will be capped at the specified progression mark for the relevant module. These capped marks will be used for all subsequent calculations related to progression.
If candidates have not attended the required lectures, seminars, classes
or laboratory practicals, and have not
completed the prescribed work for a degree course, the Examining Board
will have the discretion to mark or not to mark the scripts. |
