1. Admissions

1.1 The programme follows the University Regulations for Admission to Degree Programmes. Specific information regarding the entry requirement for the Management School programmes can be found in the prospectus and on the Southampton Business School website. Admission to the MBA programme has an additional requirement of at least four years post qualification work experience for the full-time programme and at least five years managerial level work experience for the part-time programme.
1.2 Specific information regarding the level of English proficiency required for each programme is included in the prospectus and on the Southampton Business School website.
1.3 All individuals are selected and treated on their relative merits and abilities in line with the University’s Equal Opportunities Policy. Disabled applicants will be treated according to the same procedure as any other applicant with the added involvement of the Enabling Services Office to assess their needs.
1.4 Recognition of prior learning. If candidates have completed modules at other places of learning and can demonstrate the equivalence of their learning outcomes to a relevant module of the programme, the Management School may permit such a candidate to join a degree programme at an appropriate part. Such admissions must also comply with the University's regulations on credit transfer.

2. Structure of Programme(s)

2.1 The programmes are taken on a full time basis over a 12 month period or on a part-time basis over a 24 or 36 month period.
2.2 The programmes consist of one level of study with a mixture of core, compulsory and optional modules. Optional modules must be chosen in consultation with the personal tutor and are subject to availability.
2.3 The first component of the programmes consists of taught modules. The second component consists of a dissertation.
2.4 Programme structure and module information are detailed in the programme specification and on the Southampton Business School website.

3. Progression

3.1 The programmes follow the University Regulations for Progression, Determination and Classification of Results: Standalone Masters Programmes as specified in Section IV of the University Calendar.
3.2 [3.2 Compensation]: A student passing all core modules but failing to achieve the pass mark in non-core modules totalling no more than 20 CATS (10 ECTS) points for a Masters or Postgraduate Diploma, or no more than 10 CATS (5 ECTS) points for a Postgraduate Certificate, may be awarded credit provided no module mark is less than the Qualifying Mark.

4. Assessment

4.1 The performance of candidates shall be assessed by the Board of Examiners in accordance with the University's Regulations Governing Examinations and are subject to confirmation by the School.
4.2 A student who fails to progress under paragraphs 3.1 or 3.2 [see above] may take Referral assessments in failed modules totalling not more than 60 CATS (30 ECTS).
4.3 A student failing in modules to a maximum of  80 CATS (40 ECTS) of which  20 CATS (10 ECTS) are compensatable under 3.2 above may choose the failed modules in which he/she refers, with the constraint that all core modules and any modules in which the mark obtained is less than the qualifying mark must be taken.

5. Award of Qualification(s)

5.1 Qualifications are awarded according to the University Regulations for the Progression, Determination and Classification of Results: Standalone Masters Programmes specified in Section IV of the University Calendar.

6. Placements/Study Abroad/Exchange/Fieldwork

6.1 Study abroad or exchanges may be available.

7. Other

7.1 As a research-led University, we undertake a continuous review of our programmes to ensure quality enhancement and to manage our resources. As a result, these regulations may be revised during a student’s period of registration, however, any revision will be balanced against the requirement that the student should receive the educational service expected. Please read our Disclaimer to see why, when and how changes may be made to a student’s programme.
7.2 Students are required to satisfy the academic and the Attendance and Completion of Programme Requirements as set out in section IV of the University calendar, the programme specification and the programme handbook. Those students failing to do so may have their course terminated (see University Calendar Section IV: Transfer, Suspension, Withdrawal and Termination). Attendance may be monitored.
