Reference should be made to the University's General Regulations found in Section IV of the University Calendar.

Except where an opt-out has been granted by the University (see below) the following academic regulations apply in addition to the General Regulations.

1. Admissions

1.1 Specific entry criteria are detailed in the Programme Specifications.
1.2 Health and Disclosure and Barring Service checks
All offers for BSc/MSci Healthcare Sciences (Audiology) have the compulsory condition of satisfactory outcomes from an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and an Occupational Health (OH) check.

2. Structure of Programme(s)

2.1 All undergraduate programmes are full-time degrees.
2.2 The structure of each programme is as detailed in the relevant Programme Specification.
2.3 Transfer from Integrated Masters (MEng/MSci) to the Bachelor (BEng/BSci) programme is normally permitted up to the last working day in February in Part III. Students who transfer from an Integrated Masters (MEng/MEnvSci) programme to a Bachelor programme will not normally be permitted to transfer back to the Integrated Masters programme.
2.4 Transfer from BSc Environmental Science to the Integrated Masters (MEnvSci) programme will be carried out at the end of Part I. Transfer is subject to fulfilling the criteria of the Integrated Masters (MEnvSci) programme and an interview with the student's academic tutor or the Director of Programmes.
2.5 Transfer from Bachelor (BEng/BSc) to the Integrated Masters (MEng/MSci) programme is normally permitted up to the end of the final term of the third year. Transfer is subject to fulfilling the criteria of the MEng programme and an interview with the student's academic tutor or the Director of Programmes.
2.6 Core, compulsory and optional modules for all degree programmes are listed in the Programme Specifications. All pre-requisites and assessments are documented in the module specifications. Specifically, all Part I modules are core with the exception of Environmental Science.
2.7 Students must select their options for each semester of study before the start of the semester on or before the options deadline as notified by the Student Office. It is the responsibility of each student to ensure that the combination of modules they have selected is valid and meets the requirements of their programme of study.
2.8 Students may change their selection up to week two of the semester. Students changing their selection after the options deadline are responsible for checking that there are no timetable clashes.

3. Progression

3.1 The progression regulations are as given in the University Calendar, Section IV.
3.2 In order to progress to the next Part of the programme, Integrated Masters (MEng/MEnvSci/MSci) students are required to obtain an overall aggregate mark of 55% in Part II and 55% in Part III.

4. Assessment

4.1 Assessment of examinations and coursework is in accordance with University regulations (see University Calendar Section IV).
4.2 When students repeat modules externally, it may be impractical for them to undertake the normal assessment activities, for example assessed laboratory or group work. In such cases where external repeat is permitted, they will be provided with an alternative but equivalent form of assessment which will meet the required learning outcomes.

5. Award of Qualification(s)

5.1 The final award is awarded by Senate on the recommendation of the Faculty Programmes Committee to candidates who have satisfactorily completed an approved course of study and have satisfied the assessment requirements as detailed in the regulations and the Programme Specification.

6. Placements/Study Abroad/Exchange/Fieldwork

6.1 Students on the Integrated Masters (MEng) programmes are advised to seek an industrial placement at the end of Parts II and III. It is the student's responsibility to obtain a placement although guidelines and academic advice will be provided.

7. Other

7.1 As a research-led University, we undertake a continuous review of our programmes to ensure quality enhancement and to manage our resources. As a result, these regulations may be revised during a student’s period of registration, however, any revision will be balanced against the requirement that the student should receive the educational service expected. Please read our Disclaimer to see why, when and how changes may be made to a student’s programme.
7.2 Candidates are required to satisfy the academic and attendance requirements of the programme as laid out in the Programme Specification. Those failing to do so may have their enrolment on a programme terminated.
