Reference should be made to the University's General Regulations found in Section IV and Section V (Higher Degree Regulations) of the University Calendar.

Except where an opt-out has been granted by the University (see below) the following academic regulations apply in addition to the General Regulations.

1. Admissions
 
1.1 Specific entry criteria are detailed within the programme specification.


2. Structure of Programme(s)
 
2.1 The mode of attendance is full-time.
2.2 The duration of study leading to the degree of BSc is three academic years.
2.3 This programme of study may include lectures, seminars, tutorials, report writing and practical work.
2.4 A full honours programme consists of 180ECTS/360CATS, 60ECTS/120CATS to be taken in each year of study.
2.5 In the first year, students can choose two optional modules. Year 2 of the programme consists only of core modules and in year 3 students can choose six optional modules, of which a minimum of four must be Psychology modules.
2.6 Candidates may back track or forward track a level for up to 15ECTS/30 CATS provided the minimum credit requirements at each level are met.


3. Progression
 
3.1 In order to progress to Parts 2 and 3 of the degree programme, students must satisfy the regulations governing the Progression, Determination and Classification of Results: Undergraduate and Integrated Masters Programmes as set out in Section IV of the University Calendar.


4. Assessment
 
4.1 The performance of students shall be assessed by the Board of Examiners in accordance with the regulations governing the Progression, Determination and Classification of Results: Undergraduate and Integrated Masters Programmes as set out in Section IV of the University Calendar.


5. Award of Qualification(s)
 
5.1 Qualifications are awarded according to the regulations governing the Progression, Determination and Classification of Results: Undergraduate and Integrated Masters Programmes as set out in Section IV of the University Calendar.
5.2 In order to be eligible for the British Psychological Society's Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC), students must gain at least a lower second class honours degree as outlined within the programme specification and must pass the empirical project.


6. Placements/Study Abroad/Exchange/Fieldwork
 
6.1 Students will have the opportunity to participate in the Study Abroad/Erasmus exchange scheme in the first semester of Part III of the programme of study.
6.2 Students have the opportunity to participate in the Voluntary Research Assistant Scheme and the Department of Psychology's Summer Work Placement Scheme.


7. Other
 
7.1 Students are required to satisfy the academic and the Attendance and Completion of Programme Requirements as set out in section IV of the University calendar, the programme specification and the programme handbook. Those failing to do so may have their programme terminated (see University Calendar Section IV: Transfer, Suspension, Withdrawal and Termination).
7.2 As a research-led University, we undertake a continuous review of our programmes to ensure quality enhancement and to manage our resources. As a result, these regulations may be revised during a student’s period of registration, however, any revision will be balanced against the requirement that the student should receive the educational service expected.
