The General Academic Regulations which are in Section IV (General Academic Regulations) of the University Calendar apply to and regulate the programmes listed above.

On occasion, programmes can be exempted from one or more of the clauses in the General Academic Regulations, or one or more of the clauses can be varied.

  • Exemptions are characterised by the omission of the relevant clause.
  • Variations are characterised by the replacement of the clause with alternative wording.
The programmes listed have approval from the Academic Quality and Standards Committee for the exemptions and/or variations to the regulations noted below.

Additional requirements are also listed.


Exemptions
The clause(s) listed below describe where an exemption to the General Regulations exists.
 
  At the end of Semester 1 in Part 2, the MSci Geology (with study abroad); MSci Geophysics (with study abroad); MSci Marine Biology (with study abroad); MSci Oceanography (with study abroad) programmes are exempt from clause 3.4 under section 3 of the Progression, Determination and Classification of Results for Undergraduate and Integrated Masters Programmes


Variations
The clause(s) listed below describe where a variation to the General Regulations exists.

The University standard Average Mark for a Part for undergraduate students on each Part of a programme is 40.
MSci Geology (with study abroad)
MSci Geophysics (with study abroad)
MSci Marine Biology (with study abroad)
MSci Oceanography (with study abroad)
A candidate enrolled on these programmes must achieve an average part mark of 65% at the end of Part I. The candidate must then achieve an average part mark of 65% for Semester 1 of Part II.

For MSci Geology (with study abroad) and MSci Geophysics (with study abroad) candidates, this mark will include the marks from the Semester 1 sub-modules of SOES2033.

The University standard Average Mark for a Part for undergraduate students on each Part of a programme is 40.
MSci Biology and Marine Biology A candidate enrolled on these programmes must achieve an average part mark of 55% at the end of Part II.

The University standard Average Mark for a Part for undergraduate students on each Part of a programme is 40.

A candidate enrolled on these programmes must achieve an average part mark of 55% at the end of Part II and an average part mark of 60% at the end of Part III.

The University standard Average Mark for a Part for undergraduate students on each Part of a programme is 40.

The University standard Qualifying Mark for undergraduate students taking Modules at all levels is 25.
MSci Oceanography with French A candidate enrolled on this programme must achieve a minimum mark of 55% in FREN modules totalling 15 ECTS.


Additional Requirements
There are no additional requirements for these programmes.
