The General Academic Regulations which are in Section IV (General Academic Regulations) of the University Calendar apply to and regulate the programmes listed above.

On occasion, programmes can be exempted from one or more of the clauses in the General Academic Regulations, or one or more of the clauses can be varied.

  • Exemptions are characterised by the omission of the relevant clause.
  • Variations are characterised by the replacement of the clause with alternative wording.
The programmes listed have approval from the Academic Quality and Standards Committee for the exemptions and/or variations to the regulations noted below.

Additional requirements are also listed.


Exemptions
The clause(s) listed below describe where an exemption to the General Regulations exists.
5.3 Internal Repeat: It is not possible to repeat the compulsory year abroad. However, the assessment for LANG3005 may be re-submitted as a referral and or re-submitted as an external repeat only.


Variations
There clause(s) listed below describe where a variation to the General Regulations exists..
Existing University Regulation Approved Variation
9.2 Weighting of Parts:
Part I work shall be excluded from the final degree classification. A weighting of 0:1:2 shall be used to obtain the Final Average Mark for the three Parts of an Honours degree programme, and a weighting of 0:1:2:2 for the four Parts of an integrated Masters programme. This is in addition to weighting by credit points (for example, where Parts III and IV do not contain the same number of credit points).

A weighting of 0:1:2:2 shall be used to obtain the Final Average Mark for the four Parts of an Honours degree programme that includes a compulsory year abroad which is being assessed via the core module LANG3005. LANG3005 will be used to determine progression to Part IV
