The General Academic Regulations which are in Section IV (General Academic Regulations) of the University Calendar apply to and regulate the programmes listed above.

On occasion, programmes can be exempted from one or more of the clauses in the General Academic Regulations, or one or more of the clauses can be varied.

  • Exemptions are characterised by the omission of the relevant clause.
  • Variations are characterised by the replacement of the clause with alternative wording.
The programmes listed have approval from the Academic Quality and Standards Committee for the exemptions and/or variations to the regulations noted below.

Additional requirements are also listed.


Exemptions
The clause(s) listed below describe where an exemption to the General Regulations exists.
  These programmes are exempt from Clauses 5.1 to 5.6 of section 5 (Repeat) (Progression, Determination and Classification of Results: Standalone Masters Programmes).


Variations
The clause(s) listed below describe where a variation to the General Regulations exists.
Existing University Regulation Approved Variation
3.1 (Progression, Determination and Classification of Results: Standalone Masters Programmes) Students achieving a mark of 50 or higher in the three 10 ECTS/20 CATS FHEQ Level 7 core modules will be awarded the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

Students achieving a mark between 40 and 49 in one or more of the three 10 ECTS/20 CATS FHEQ Level 7 core modules will be awarded the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education.
5. (Progression, Determination and Classification of Results: Standalone Masters Programmes) All programmes
These programmes are exempt from Clauses 5.1 to 5.6 of section 5 (Repeat).


Additional Requirements
The clause(s) listed below are in addition to the General Academic Regulations.
  Continuation on regulated programmes is subject to consideration of any criminal convictions. Students are required to inform the Faculty of all criminal convictions. All students will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  Continuation on your programme is subject to specific health requirements (consistent with the provisions of the Equality Act [2010]). Students are required to inform the Faculty of any health problems, throughout their period of enrolment, relevant to their future employment as a professional.
